Strategic Programme Areas
Youth Participation in Governance
Youth are critical to the development of Zimbabwe, but they often face challenges in accessing opportunities, participating in governance, constitutionalism, and promoting peace and tranquillity, and are used as tools for politically motivated violence. Our work in this area focuses on empowering young people to become agents of development, promoting peace, constitutionalism, and good governance, and building their capacity for leadership and social cohesion.
Youth Leadership and Capacity Building
In a nation like Zimbabwe, where the youth represent a significant demographic, it is imperative to harness their potential for leadership and societal contribution. The empowerment of youth through leadership and capacity building is essential for the sustainable development of Zimbabwe. By fostering a generation of skilled, knowledgeable, and ethical leaders, we can ensure that young people are not only prepared to tackle current challenges but are also equipped to shape the future. This program area will focus on developing the competencies and confidence of youth to lead with integrity, constitutionalism, innovate in their communities, and advocate for inclusive policies that benefit all.
Youth Environmental Stewardship
Zimbabwe’s youth hold the key to environmental sustainability and climate resilience. With the escalating challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, the role of youth in environmental stewardship is more crucial than ever. Through this program area, we aim to instil a sense of responsibility and stewardship in young people towards their environment. By enhancing their understanding of climate issues and their impacts, and by equipping them with the tools to lead environmental initiatives, we can mobilize a force for positive change that promotes ecological balance and supports the nation’s commitment to climate justice.
Youth Economic Empowerment
Youth Mental Health and Well-being
Mental health issues, including drug and substance abuse, pose significant risks to the well-being and potential of Zimbabwe’s youth. The pressures of modern life, societal expectations, and lack of support systems often lead to depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Our work in this area aims to promote mental health awareness, provide support systems, and empower young people with coping mechanisms and life skills to navigate challenges. By addressing drug and substance abuse, we can mitigate its devastating consequences on individuals, families, and communities. This program area will focus on creating safe spaces for youth to share their experiences, access counselling services, and develop resilience strategies
